Losing is one thing, but losing composure is another.
In the most adversity the No. 1 Texas Longhorns have faced in an historic start to their time in the SEC with a 6-1 loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville on Friday, their first weekend series defeat since April 2024, head coach Jim Schlossnagle had to bench two players for baserunning mistakes and usher irate first baseman Kimble Schuessler back to the dugout after the home plate umpire called Schuessler out on a full-count check swing.
While Schuessler did have a valid point after replays confirmed he didn’t swing, Schlossnagle had no patience for sophomore third baseman Casey Borba running out a one-out pop fly in foul territory, a mistake that confused sophomore center fielder Will Gasparino enough to convince him to leave second base on an inning-ending double play in the seventh inning.
