Texas Longhorns softball star Teagan Kavan was instrumental in the program’s first Women’s College World Series win. She dedicated her performance to her late grandmother, who passed away on May 31, according to a recent report in Sports Illustrated. Kavan was also named the WCWS Most Outstanding Player after the ace pitcher didn’t allow a single run.

Tuning out the noise is a skill Teagan Kavan learned from her family.

Her grandmother, Miney, died before the Longhorns’ WCWS game against Oklahoma on May 31 at 97 years old.
