Longhorns Daily News: SEC commissioner Greg Sankey is stumping for a Power 4 breakaway under a broader NCAA

If Southeastern Conference commissioner Greg Sankey says it enough times, more often than not, that thing he wouldn’t shut up about at one point eventually comes to fruition.

Recently, Sankey has stumped for a Power 4 conference breakaway within the NCAA. In other words, the current Division I college football structure would be broken into three divisions of its own: the fat boys (the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, and ACC), the chubby boys (the relaunched Pac-12, American Athletic, Mountain West, MAC, Sun Belt, and Conference-USA), and the smallest of the big guys (the equivalent of today’s FCS division teams.
