Legendary blues musician Jimmie Vaughan, the older brother of the late Stevie Ray Vaughan, will perform as the inaugural Longhorn City Limits on September 8 before the Texas Longhorns take on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.
The announcement from the school on Thursday also revealed the opening act — Austin soul group The Nightowls, known for drawing packed crowds to Icenhauer’s on Rainey Street for their longtime Sunday residency.
“It’s so exciting and so appropriate to have an award-winning artist like Jimmie Vaughan headline our inaugural Longhorn City Limits,” said athletics director Chris Del Conte.
