Taylor Teagarden, a former catcher for the Texas Rangers and Texas Longhorns, has been suspended 80 games for a violation of Major League Baseball's drug policy, the league announced Friday.

Teagarden, 32, who went to Carrollton Creekview, was with the Rangers from 2008-11, spent last season with the Chicago Cubs and made just eight appearances.

In December, Al-Jazeera came out with a report that alleged links between Teagarden and performance-enhancing drugs.
