OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – On what was one of the most emotional days of Teagan Kavan's life, the Texas sophomore ace turned in a legendary performance in the pitching circle as the sixth-seeded Longhorns bested the second-seeded Oklahoma Sooners, 4-2, to remain in the winner's bracket of the Women's College World Series.
With the entirety of the Texas softball program lifting her and her family up on Saturday afternoon, Kavan (26-5) threw 129 pitches, struck out eight, recorded seven flyouts and induced six groundouts. She scattered seven hits – no extra base hits – issued two walks and surrendered two runs, including an unearned run.
