FORT WORTH, Texas – Texas Football quarterback Sam Ehlinger was named to the watch list for the 2019 Davey O'Brien Award on Tuesday. The Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award is presented annually to the nation's best college quarterback and is the oldest and most prestigious national quarterback award.
Ehlinger, a native of Austin, Texas, played in and started all 14 games a season ago. He was named honorable mention All-Big 12 by the league's head coaches and a semifinalist for the 2018 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, as he finished the season with 3,292 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns and 16 more scores on the ground.
