Former Men's Basketball National Player of the Year becomes first UT player to earn Finals MVP honor.
OAKLAND – Former University of Texas star and 2007 consensus National Player of the Year Kevin Durant became the fifth UT player to win an NBA Championship, as the Golden State Warriors posted a 129-120 win against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 5 of the 2017 NBA Finals on Monday evening. Durant became the first Longhorn to earn Finals MVP honors.
Durant scored at least 30 points in every contest of the five-game series.
