Cole Hammer named a semifinalist for the 2019 Ben Hogan Award

Just under a year after former Longhorn golfer Doug Ghim won the award, current freshman golfer Cole Hammer was named as one of the 10 semifinalists for the 2019 Ben Hogan Award on Wednesday.

The Ben Hogan Award is presented annually to the nation’s top men’s NCAA golfer and is awarded based on the collegiate and amateur competitions a golfer’s performed in during the past year. The three finalists for the award will be selected on May 2 and the winner will be announced on May 20 at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth.

Although he’s yet to win a collegiate tournament individually, Hammer had a highly accomplished background as an amateur golfer before he arrived at Texas.
