IRVING, Texas — University of Texas freshman forward Greg Brown has been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league office announced Monday. This marks Brown's first career weekly league honor. It also marks the second weekly award for the Longhorns this year, as senior guard Matt Coleman III claimed Player of the Week honors on Dec. 7.
In UT's two victories last week, Brown averaged 20.5 points, 12.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game while recording a pair of double-doubles. He posted 17 points (5-11 FG, 5-7 FT) and 10 rebounds in addition to two blocks and two steals in 22 minutes against Sam Houston State on Wednesday, Dec.
