Bevo’s Daily Roundup: Oklahoma QB Spencer Rattler could ‘opt out’ for NFL Draft, analyst says

ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit offered some interesting thoughts on the Oklahoma Sooners’ quarterback situation, in which head coach Lincoln Riley must decide between starting redshirt sophomore and returning starter Spencer Rattler and true freshman Caleb Williams. As y’all might recall, it was Williams who bested the Texas Longhorns last weekend, likely leading to him getting the nod under center for the rest of the season.

That’s why Herbstreit suggests Rattler could opt out for the NFL Draft.

“... if Spencer Rattler’s not the guy next Saturday against TCU and he gets frustrated, third-year guy, he could theoretically opt out, go back to Phoenix, start training for the NFL Draft and they would be left with Caleb Williams and [a] walk-on freshman as backup quarterbacks,” Herbstreit said on ESPN, per 247Sports.
