Texas’ days wearing the Nike swoosh might soon be over.
According to a report from Bloomberg.com, Nike’s exclusive negotiating window with the Texas Longhorns over their apparel rights is about to come to an end, and two competitors, Adidas and Under Amour, want the chance to make a gigantic offer to Texas.
Nike has exclusive negotiating right with Texas until Thursday, but Bloomberg suggests the two sides will not agree to a deal before then. That means for the first time since 2000, when the Longhorns abandoned Reebok in favour of Nike, the Longhorns brand will hit the open market.
