IRVING, Texas — University of Texas senior forward Timmy Allen has been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league office announced Monday. This marks Allen's first career weekly league honor.
Allen led the Longhorns to a pair of double-digit second-half comeback wins last week. He averaged 21.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals in 34.7 minutes per game while converting 66.7-percent from the field (12-18) and 79.2-percent from the free throw line (19-24).
In Wednesday's home win against TCU (Feb. 23), Allen recorded 17 points (5-9 FG, 7-8 FT), seven rebounds (five offensive), two assists and two steals in 34 minutes.
