Former Aledo standout receiver Ryan Newsome announced Sunday on Twitter that he is transferring from Texas.
As a freshman last season, the 5-8 Newsome played in seven games, catching four passes for 23 yards and returning six kickoffs for 110 yards. He was ranked as a top 300 national recruit in the 247Sports composite. Texas has several talented young receivers, including sophomore John Burt and freshmen Collin Johnson and Devin Duvernay.
