Five-Star Center Jarrett Allen Commits To Texas Over Kansas

The Texas Longhorns and head coach Shaka Smart have landed their second five-star recruit for the class of 2016. Center Jarrett Allen committed to Texas Friday morning, reports Scout.com.

Allen is the No. 15 player in the country according to Scout.com. A 6-foot-10, 210-pound center, he's the No. 3 player at his position. Allen is a local product, playing at St. Stephen's in Austin.

The Longhorns beat out Kansas and Houston to land Allen. Kentucky, North Carolina, Duke and Notre Dame were among the other schools that offered Allen. The addition of the five-star recruit gives the Longhorns the No. 6 overall class in Scout.com's rankings.

Allen was a McDonald's All-American and has the versatility to play as a power forward as well. While he needs to bulk up, Allen has the frame to add plenty of weight and strength. Allen has the potential to be a stretch four, but isn't ready to contribute from outside the arc at this point. A highlight tape of Allen is embedded below.
