Five 2016 Recruits That Every Texas Fan Needs To Know

Texas had a successful Signing Day, wrapping up one of the top recruiting classes in the country, but head coach Charlie Strong has already turned his attention to the 2016 class. Here are the top five prospects the Longhorns are going after in that class that every Texas fan needs to know:

QB Dwayne Haskins

Texas' quarterback situation is the biggest question mark surrounding this team and their future success, and Strong has apparently identified Haskins as his guy. He's a pro-style quarterback that can run (a Teddy Bridgewater type), but the Longhorns will have to pull the Maryland native away from the Terrapins, who are the favorite to land him now.

DT Ed Oliver

The five-star is being pursued by seemingly every major school in the country, but Texas is among the three favorites to land him, along with LSU and Texas A&M. Oliver is a dominant run-stopper at just under 300 pounds, but still has the athleticism to keep up with the fast-paced offenses in the Big 12.

WR Collin Johnson

Johnson has already committed to Texas, and he'll make the job easier for whoever is quarterback of the Longhorns in 2016. The 6'4" wideout has the size and leaping ability to become a premier red zone target, and also has the speed to be a real deep ball threat.

OL J.P. Urquidez

The four-star from Copperas Cove, Texas, is a big man at 6'6", 300 pounds, and has the size and strength that he should make an immediate impact at the next level. His top two choices right now are Baylor and Texas, but the Longhorns will also have to hold off Michigan, LSU, and Florida State.

S Deontay Anderson

Texas a making a strong push for the five-star safety, trying to take him away from the Aggies, who are favorites to land him. Anderson is 6'1" and 195 pounds, and plays a hard-hitting style that will serve him well at the next level.
