New Texas A&M defensive coordinator John Chavis said during spring drills that defensive end and cornerback are key to his aggressive scheme, why the move of senior Brandon Williams from running back to cornerback appeared a necessity springing into August camp. The players report on Aug. 9.
“After spring, we were looking for another corner,” A&M fourth-year coach Kevin Sumlin said. “Brandon is a guy who, at 6 foot and 200 pounds, was kind of an average size for a running back.”
That’s not the case at cornerback, where the average size in the NFL is 5-foot-11 and 193 pounds, according to Monday Morning Quarterback.
