Texas A&M's opening opponent just had extremely strange scandal break out

Texas A&M is slated to open the season just over one month from today, on August 30 in Kyle Field when the UTSA Roadrunners roll into town. Though UTSA is not in a power conference, they won't be any pushovers: per the preseason SP+ power ratings from ESPN's Bill Connelly, the Roadrunners are ranked higher than the Mississippi State Bulldogs, for example.

Of course, a lot of Texas A&M football fans still have some pretty sore memories from the last time a premier group of five (six?) school came to town with the fateful 2022 game against Appalachian State.
