The job defensive coordinator Mike Elko did in turning around Texas A&M football‘s defense earned him recognition as one of the best offseason hires for the 2018 season. It’s hard to argue against him being one of the best young minds in college football on defense. However, one thing that made his job easier was having three seniors on the defensive line, all of whom have moved on to the NFL.
The lone starter remaining is Justin Madubuike, and the defensive tackle starting spot next to him is available for the taking. The guy who plays there will likely have the luxury of Madubuike drawing most of the attention to him.
