At times this season, Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed has looked like a Heisman Trophy contender, but against the best opponents on the Aggies’ schedule, he hasn’t quite lived up to that billing. The redshirt sophomore struggled in his last time out against Texas, throwing two interceptions as the Aggies lost to miss the SEC Championship Game and finish the regular season 11-1.
His performance in the College Football Playoff against Miami wasn’t much better. Reed again threw two interceptions, completing 25 of his 39 passes for 237 yards in the 10-3 loss. The second interception came from the Miami five-yard line with 24 seconds left, and any doubts that Aggies fans had about their quarterback came to fruition.
