PORTSTEWART, Northern Ireland- Texas A&M golfers Maddie Szeryk and Bianca Fabrizio competed in the first qualifying round of the 112th Ladies’ British Open Amateur Championship on Tuesday at Portstewart Golf Club. Szeryk shot a two-over 75 and is in qualifying position for match play, while Fabrizio is just two strokes away from match play with a five-over 78.
Elin Esborn of Sweden leads the tournament on the par 72 / 6,262 yard course with a first-round 67 (-6). After two rounds of stroke play, the top 64 competitors will face off in match play to determine a champion.
