Recent boxing champion, Oak Cliff's Maurice Hooker arrested, charged with DWI

A local boxer who recently picked up a major world championship belt was arrested on Tuesday in Dallas.

Maurice Hooker was booked Tuesday morning and charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and misdemeanor unlawful possession of a handgun, according to Dallas County court records. He posted bond on both charges.

According to KRLD-AM, the undefeated boxer rear-ended a Dallas police car in a construction area on Interstate 35E. Two other police cars were hit in the incident, according to the radio station.

Hooker, 28, is fresh off his first major title victory. Last month, Hooker (24-0, 16 KOs) traveled to England and beat Terry Flanagan in a split decision to win the WBO's super lightweight title.
