A&M defensive back Derrick Tucker arrested on assault charge

Texas A&M defensive back Derrick Tucker was arrested on Thursday and charged with assault causing bodily injury, according to Brazos County court records.

The junior from Manvel was released the same day on a $5,000 bond, records show. According to the jail log, the offense occurred on March 24.

No other information about the offense was immediately available.

Tucker has been a significant member of A&M's defense in his first two seasons with the Aggies. He has 15 career starts at safety, with eight of those coming in 2018.

As a sophomore, Tucker tallied 27 total tackles and pass deflection.
