As he prepares to face his former employer, New Mexico coach Bob Davie says leaving Texas A&M was the toughest choice he’s made in four decades of coaching.
Davie, who was a Texas A&M assistant from 1985-93, looked back at his Aggies career during his weekly news conference before the Lobos’ trip to Kyle Field on Saturday.
“The toughest decision I ever made was to leave Texas A&M and go to Notre Dame,” said Davie, who said that he twice turned down Lou Holtz’s offer to take over the Notre Dame defense before finally accepting in 1994.
