Caroline Wozniacki reached her sixth WTA final this season with a 6-2 6-3 win that ended the resurgent Sloane Stephens‘ fairytale run at the Rogers Cup in Toronto.
Still fresh off her comeback after an 11-month injury and surgery layoff, the 934th-ranked Stephens had eliminated Grand Slam champions Angelique Kerber and Petra Kvitova en route to the semifinals, before falling in two straightforward sets to the sixth-seeded Wozniacki, who survived a rain-tortured marathon against world No.1 Karolina Pliskova yesterday.

Wozniacki will try to finally claim a title this season against the winner of Saturday evening’s semifinal between defending champion Simona Halep and Elina Svitolina.
