Wozniacki, Cirstea lead the Madrid video game tournament on Day 1

Day 1 of the somewhat historic Mutua Madrid Open Virtual Pro tennis tournament is in the books. All 16 players in the women’s draw were in action on Monday and so far WTA leaders in the gaming world are Sorana Cirstea and Caroline Wozniacki.

In the opening ladies’ match, Belinda Bencic defeated Carla Suarez Navarro 3-1 in nine minutes in Group 1, followed by Fiona Ferro‘s 3-0 victory over Karolina Pliskova.

Sorana Cirstea impressed with her gaming skills and earned a leading position in Group 2, losing just one point to demolish Johanna Konta 3-0 in three minutes and later on saving three match points to see off Elina Svitolina 4-2.
