Sixth seed Caroline Wozniacki started her 2017 BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global campaign impressively by making short work of fourth-seeded tournament debutante Elina Svitolina in the second Red Group match on Monday.
The 2010 WTA Finals runner-up Wozniacki held to love in her opening service game, then jumped to a 4-2 lead and powered through ten consecutive games to record a 6-2 6-0 victory in just 58 minutes. This is Wozniacki’s first win over Svitolina in their four meetings, two of which included straight-set losses in giant 2017 title matches: at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships in February and the Rogers Cup in August.
