Women’s tennis returns to Wuhan for the first time since COVID-19

The Wuhan Open has been added to the WTA calendar for the first time since the Chinese city was the epicenter of the COVID pandemic in 2019. The WTA 1000 tournament will take place at the Optics Valley International Tennis Center from October 7 to October 13, 2024.

“We are delighted to announce the return of the WTA 1000 event to Wuhan, and reignite the thrill of elite tennis competition in one of Asia’s most vibrant cities,” Jorge Salkeld, senior vice president of organizers Octagon Tennis was reported as saying by Xinhua news agency.

Aryna Sabalenka won the last two editions of the Wuhan Open.
