Wimbledon 2016: 'People's Sunday' considered by organisers

Wimbledon organisers are considering playing on the middle Sunday of the tournament for the first time since 2004.

Persistent rain delays have frustrated the players and resulted in a backlog of matches that may have to be played on the two-week tournament's traditional rest day.

A decision will be made on Saturday, when further rain delays are forecast.

However, the forecast is better as the second week progresses.

Organisers were forced to close the roof on Centre Court on Friday, while Venus Williams was interrupted at match-point in her game against Daria Kasatkina on Court One.
