Andy Murray came into the United States Open as the most consistent player on the men’s tour of late, with a second Wimbledon title, a second Olympic gold medal and a 22-match winning streak from June to August.
He opened his tournament Tuesday night with an emphatic 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Lukas Rosol.
“I just feel like I’m in a really good place just now,” Murray said. “I don’t feel dominant. I’ve played great the last four or five months, but my goal now is to try to keep that going for a whole year.
