Tonight we’ll hear from a few doubles specialists, including David Macpherson, a former coach of Bob and Mike Bryan. He sadly isn’t able to watch the match from the stadium, and is instead watching from a flight (but we’re in touch anyway).
“I have fond memories of Bob Bryan and Venus tearing through the Wimbledon mixed in 2006,” Macpherson said via text. “Unfortunately they played the final right after Bob and Mike won the doubles so Bob was a tiny bit fatigued and they lost the final.” Macpherson said the Williams sisters “both return serve ferociously,” which is “so very intimidating for opposing net player.
