Iga Swiatek added yet another bagel to her popular bakery with a 6-2 6-0 victory over Sara Sorribes Tormo in the second round of Wimbledon. Since the start of the 2022 season, the Pole leads the Hologic WTA Tour in match wins (105), titles (11) and sets won by a score of 6-0 (38).
Playing her sixth consecutive Grand Slam as the top seed, Swiatek spent just 70 minutes on Centre Court in her first career encounter with Spanish world No.84 Sorribes Tormo. Although a minor setback occurred early on when Swiatek lost her serve while leading 2-0, she regained control and didn’t allow her opponent to create any more break point opportunities.
