Svitolina back into WTA Finals championship match as Bencic retires

Defending champion Elina Svitolina booked a spot in the title match of the WTA Finals and extended her winning streak at the season-ending event to ten, as tournament debutante Belinda Bencic retired due to cramping early amidst third set of their semifinal clash.

In her first service game, the eighth-seeded Svitolina fired three aces to hold at love. Bencic saved a break point to hold serve in the fifth game of the set, following it up with an aggressive and confident play to break Svitolina’s serve at 15 for a 4-2 lead.
