Stacey Allaster Quits as W.T.A. Chief Executive

Stacey Allaster, the chief executive of the WTA Tour, announced Tuesday that would will step down from her post Oct. 2.

Allaster, one of the world’s most prominent female sports executives, cited personal reasons for the surprising move, noting specifically the deaths of her brother-in-law and of Brad Drewett, a former ATP chief executive.

In a statement, she said their deaths had “provided a personal wake-up call about life, family and priorities” and that “it is time for me to shift some time and energy that way.”

Allaster, 52, is married and has two young children.
