Sofia Kenin storms back to knock out Fiona Ferro in Paris

American fourth seed Sofia Kenin surged back from a set down to defeat Fiona Ferro of France 2-6 6-2 6-1 and advance to the quarterfinals of the French Open.

The reigning Australian Open champion Kenin opened the match with a 2-0 lead, but the world No.49 Ferro fired back by winning six consecutive games to take the first set. Ferro’s dominance didn’t last long, though, as after an exchange of breaks at the start of the second set, the rest of the match was absolutely dictated by Kenin.

After the victory, the 21-year-old Kenin left the court in tears, probably because of joy that she’s reached her first career quarterfinals at Roland Garros.
