Simona Halep a doubt for Palermo as Italy imposes stricter coronavirus measures for Romanians

Simona Halep of Romania is supposed to headline the 31° Palermo Ladies’ Open, but the world number two’s participation is now in doubt as Italy imposed a 14-day quarantine on people coming from her country.

The International-level claycourt tournament in Palermo starts on August 3rd and is the first WTA event after a five-month break caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Besides two-time Grand Slam champion Halep, the field boasts four more Top 20 players: Johanna Konta, Petra Martic, 2019 French Open finalist Marketa Vondrousova, and Maria Sakkari.
