A total of 23 British players are competing in the men’s and women’s singles at Wimbledon 2025 — the most since 1984. Notably, most of them received wildcards.
Seven singles players qualified directly through their rankings, while college player Oliver Tarvet earned his spot through qualifying. Fifteen others received wildcards, granted based on criteria like ranking, form, and grass-court performance.
Wildcard committee member and British women’s team captain Anne Keothavong emphasized the importance of using Wimbledon to support homegrown talent. With 14 Britons ranked inside the world’s Top 200 — another high since 1984 — the depth of British tennis is growing.
