Rafael Nadal Says He Will Skip Wimbledon and the Olympics

Rafael Nadal, the 20-time Grand Slam winner, will not go for No. 21 at Wimbledon this year, he announced on Thursday. He also pulled out of the Olympics, and said a compressed schedule of major events did not allow adequate time for his body to recover.

“Hi all, I have decided not to participate at this year’s Championships at Wimbledon and the Olympic Games in Tokyo,” he wrote in a series of posts on Twitter. “It’s never an easy decision to take but after listening to my body and discuss it with my team I understand that it is the right decision.
