With her serve on point, third seed Karolina Pliskova needed just 62 minutes to beat second seed Garbine Muguruza 6-2 6-2 and book a place in the 2017 BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global semifinals.
Pliskova confidently marched through the first set, getting 70% of first serves in and winning 100% of points on second serve (7 out of 7). Moreover, the Czech saved the sole break point she faced and won 71% of points on Muguruza’s second serve. The second set was similarly good for Pliskova and even though she wasted three match points at 5-1 and suffered a break in the following game, she held at love in the eighth game, converting her fourth match point.
