The semifinals of the 2017 Mutua Madrid Open are set as the final four players have emerged from the draw on Thursday.
After most of the top seeds hit trouble in the Spanish capital early on, the final four players include some names not often seen in the semi-final round of a WTA Premier Mandatory event, including Kristina Mladenovic & Anastasija Sevastova.
While Mladenovic continues to back up her strong season and last week’s Stuttgart final with another strong run, Sevastova is making her first-ever Premier Mandatory semi-final apperance, punching her ticket with a straight set win over Bertens on Thursday.
