Friday at the 2017 BNP Paribas Open saw the start of second-round play as the first of the tournament’s top seeds started their Indian Wells campaign.
While several seeds cruised to comfortable wins all day, the day had quite a huge surprise in store as young American talent Kayla Day managed to upset Australian Open semi-finalist Mirjana Lucic-Baroni.
17 years of age, Day is the youngest player in the WTA Top 200, continung an impressive run in her native home of California after first making her mark in the pro circuit at the US Open last August.
