Petra Kvitova defeated Elina Svitolina 6-4 6-2 to win the Huajin Securities WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai, an inferior season-ending tournament featuring the leading 12 players who did not qualify for the WTA Finals in Singapore.
The second-seeded Kvitova won 11 of the last 13 games to beat Svitolina in straight sets for the fourth time in 2016. The Zhuhai title is an icing on the cake in Kvitova's late season resurgence, which included the Wuhan title and deep runs in Beijing and Luxembourg, a contrast to the Czech's poor first half of the year which included just 16 match wins.
