No WTA tournaments until May 2, at least

Days after the ATP announced that men’s tennis players will not compete for at least six weeks because of coronavirus concerns, the WTA is releasing official statement that women’s tennis will not be played until May 2nd, while given the circumstances, we can expect this forced off-season period to be prolonged.

Following the cancelation of the BNP Paribas Open, the Miami Open, the Volvo Car Open and other smaller events that were scheduled to take place at this time and in the coming weeks, the WTA is now announcing that April’s Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Istanbul Open and J&T Banka Praque Open will also not be held due to coronavirus pandemic.
