With world No.1 Ashleigh Barty’s unexpected retirement from tennis, second-ranked Iga Swiatek became the leading contender for the top spot. In order to secure it, the Pole had to win her second-round match at the Miami Open. On Friday, Swiatek achieved the feat in style, serving a bagel to Switzerland’s Viktorija Golubic in a 6-2 6-0 victory.
The 20-year-old Swiatek will be the 28th woman in WTA history to claim the No.
