Iga Swiatek races past Anett Kontaveit to win the Qatar Open title

Poland’s Iga Swiatek ended Anett Kontaveit‘s nine-match winning streak with a confident 6-2 6-0 victory in the final of the Qatar TotalEnergies Open in Doha.

Only in the first set did we have some close moments, when the fourth-seeded Kontaveit broke right back to level at 2-2. But from that point on, the seventh-seeded Swiatek raced through ten games in a row, leaving the Estonian helpless.

During the changeover at 3-0 down in the second set, Kontaveit was crying. She tried to hide the tears with the towel. It looked like she was aware that the WTA 1000 final was lost for her.
