For Patrick McEnroe, the U.S. Open Is Home

McEnroe was smiling. McEnroe was happy. McEnroe was wading through a sea of fans, frequently stopping for a photograph or to sign an autograph or to offer a hug to an old friend.

The McEnroe was Patrick and he was home.

Actually, he was at his home away from home, making his way from Arthur Ashe Stadium to a temporary replacement for the new Louis Armstrong Stadium, still under construction and scheduled to open in 2018. He would be joining his brother John in the ESPN broadcast booth at the United States Open, in Flushing Meadows, Queens.
