On her tournament debut, Dominika Cibulkova defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova in a thrilling and high-quality semifinal of the WTA Finals. Nothing but awe-inspiring determination, fighting spirit and spectacular tennis handed the Slovak this priceless victory against just as amazing opponent.
The seventh-seeded Cibulkova opened the match with a strong hold of serve and in the first three games it seemed that we were in for a tightly-contested set, even though the Slovak was broken in the third game. However, as the set progressed, the 27-year-old Cibulkova's level was dropping and Kuznetsova continued her Singapore fairy tale with a strong 6-1 score in the first set.
