Ex-number one Sharapova fails drug test

Former world number one Maria Sharapova has revealed she failed a drugs test at the Australian Open.

The Russian, 28, has played just four tournaments since Wimbledon, and only the Australian Open in 2016.

The five-time Grand Slam winner has been troubled by an arm injury and has played just four tournaments since reaching the Wimbledon semis in July.

The Russian lost to Serena Williams in the Australian Open quarter-finals in January and has not played since.
