Dodig and Melo Beat Bryans to Win French Open Men's Doubles

PARIS — Third-seeded Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo won their first Grand Slam title after rallying to beat Bob and Mike Bryan 6-7 (5), 7-6 (5), 7-5 Saturday in the French Open final, denying the top-seeded Americans their 17th major title and third at Roland Garros.

Melo clipped a superb lob over the head of the Bryans to level the match, and the Brazilian player hit the winner with a neat volley to the side to prompt wild celebrations with Dodig, a Croatian player whose singles ranking rose to 29th two years ago.

The 37-year-old Bryans, who won their 106th career title at the Monte Carlo Masters in April, beat Dodig and Melo in the Wimbledon final two years ago.
