Angelique Kerber beats Serena Williams in Wimbledon final, wins third Grand Slam title

Angelique Kerber spoiled Serena Williams‘ dream comeback as a mom by beating her 6-3 6-3 in the final of Wimbledon, even though the seven-time champion had Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle rooting for her from the Royal Box.

In a rematch of their 2016 title match at Wimbledon, the 11th-seeded Kerber broke seed No.25 Williams’ serve in the very first game. Even though Williams broke back to level at 2-2 and held serve in the following game to establish lead for the first time, Kerber won four consecutive games and victoriously finished the first set.
